Here, as promised, I am releasing step-by-step instructions on how I make diaries with a leather cover.
Any leather products will go into work: old jackets, gloves, jackets, handbags, etc. The main thing is that the leather is of high quality and natural.
I took the leftovers from the old jacket.
Cut out two rectangles to fit the cover.
I took the glue for the foam (for the ceiling tiles). I glue the prepared parts and glue them to the cover.
It is necessary to ensure that about 2 cm of skin remains at the edges.
Next, we coat the edges well with glue and bend them.
We tighten the corners well, first on one side, then on the other side, thereby tightening the skin to each other. Then we cut off the excess from the corner.
Smooth out the cut by gluing the leather to the cover.
Then I take a piece of another leather. You can take a different color, different texture, etc.
I arrange it the way I like it or in those places where the first skin was not enough. I had this too.
I also spread it with glue.
While gluing at your discretion, crush the skin into folds.
Deform the skin as much as you have enough imagination.
Glue it carefully to the cover.
I do the same with other places.
Wherever I wanted to make an insert of light leather, I glue it, at the same time minting into the folds.
I still fold the edges of the skin.
Next, I take the skin from another jacket.
I don’t know what it’s called, but it’s very dense and thick.
Cut out the size you want. Sometimes I go over it with sandpaper. (Well, I liked it better)
After that I prepare the drawing. And I burn it on a piece of thick leather.
The drawing can be burned simply "by hand", or it can be translated through a carbon copy. I used the simplest scorcher, but you can find more professional ones.
Here again, completely your imagination!
That's what I did.
I decided to make holes in the corners and thread leather ribbons through them.
In my mind, this is like a mini stretch of a leather pano.
In addition, I burned out the name of the future owner.
And also added decorative elements from light leather.
Then I take either silver or gold paint (acrylic) and lightly brush along the top of the folds.
And in the end I have such a diary.
I pasted it over with paper inside to hide the skin, which we went around around the edges.
And sometimes I stick some element on the first page.
This is my next experiment, so do not judge the professionals strictly, but I will be very glad to advice.
And of course I am not a skin specialist and I don’t understand anything about it. I just told in my language how I do it. You can see my other works on my website, which I made it myself easily and simply ... www.mila-fedyukova.ru

October 31, 2012, 13:00 | blog Made by hand | Natalia Malyovanaya
It gets colder outside, slush and mud portend imminent snowfalls. Winter is just around the corner. And winter is a lot of holidays, the main one of which is New Year. And if it is always more or less clear to children with a gift, then a gift to a spouse is often perplexing. So I wondered how to please a loved one like that.
The decision came pretty quickly. Firstly, the New Year is a very symbolic holiday, it opens a new milestone in the life of every person. Secondly, I recalled how my faithful was annoyed that I had handed over my last topiary for sale. He really wanted to decorate his desk with my needlework. The gift idea was born as a result of the synthesis of these two thoughts - a hand made diary.
I studied the Internet spaces for various techniques for making such products, put in my head an image of the future creation and started.
To begin with, I thought about the content. The diary block itself will be undated, with a small inspirational drawing in the upper right corner of each page and a handy ruler in the best time management tradition.
Getting started creating a paper block of the diary. First of all, we print a sufficient number of (in my case 92 A4 sheets) pages on the printer. Then, fold all the sheets in half and collect three sheets of paper in "notebooks". I got 30 such notebooks, 3 sheets each (Figure 1.1).
Next, we put a stack of notebooks under the press, preferably at night. This is done so that the bends are fixed. I put the stacks under the washing machine, but you can also use stationery clips.
After that, we outline the places of the holes for the stitching. I like the sawing method. It is quite fast and effective, but it requires some effort. So, we put our resting block under the press on the edge of the table, mark the places for the holes, take a file and make cuts. In total, you need to make 6 cuts (the distance between them is approximately 3 cm). The marking of the cuts can be seen in Fig. 1.2. We take a triangular file and get down to business. You need to cut exactly vertically, without changing the inclination of the tool, and to a sufficient depth so that holes remain in each sheet of each notebook.
Now we are going to stitch together the paper block. I decided to first master the binding on two ribbons. We sew notebooks one at a time according to the scheme shown in Figure 2, but first we will select (preferably semi-synthetic or synthetic) threads that match our color. Synthetic threads are less tangled when sewing, but they can easily tear paper, and it is much more difficult to tie a knot on them. We also need 2 strips of fabric or tape 3 cm wide. I made cuts from my son's old T-shirt. These strips of fabric will hold our binding together.
So, we take the first notebook and thread it into the extreme hole. We sew with ordinary stitches along the entire fold, placing the fabric cuts, as shown in Figure 2.1. We do not tie the tail of the thread.
We take the second notebook (here it is important not to confuse the top with the bottom), thread the needle into the extreme hole of the top (or bottom, depending on which side you started to sew). We sew to the end, like the first notebook, putting fabric strips in the necessary places. When the needle comes out in the extreme hole (Figure 2.2), you need to tie the thread into a knot with the remaining tail.
Then we take the third notebook and sew it to the second in the same way. When the needle comes out of the extreme hole (Fig. 2.3), you need to draw the thread under the thread (Fig. 2.4), connecting the previous two notebooks, tying a knot on it (Fig. 2.5 - 2.6). As a result, the edges of the notebook will be securely fastened together.
We continue to sew notebooks until we receive a complete paper block of the diary. It took me one hour. What happened to me, you can look at fig. 1.3.
It's time to create the slime and reinforce the binding. For slime, it is better to use kraft paper or any other sufficiently strong and flexible at the same time. I took a letterhead, divided it in half, and on each half I folded about 0.5 cm on one side.Now we glue the slice with this folded edge to the paper block. On top of it we glue the hanging fabric strips (Fig. 1.4).
Then we carefully process the end of the stitching with super-glue and close it with another strip of fabric (arrow in Fig. 1.5). This is necessary in order for the binding to be stronger. Now we put the entire structure under the press, preferably for the whole night.
Since the planned diary will turn out to be quite plump, I decided not to weave the captal (I was afraid that it would be too voluminous), but just glue it (circle in Figure 1.5).
Now we start making the cover. We take not too dense corrugated cardboard, I used small cardboard boxes. From it we cut out two blanks for cover crusts, equal in size to the page size.
Next, from thick cardboard, or paper (in my case, drawing paper was used) cut out a rectangle of approximately the same size. It will form a fold on the cover at the binding. We measure the width of the binding and mark a zone of the same size in the center of this sheet, add 0.5 cm on each side.With the help of the blunt end of the scissors, we push the strips inside the resulting rectangle at a distance of 3-4 mm. They will help this part of the cover hold its shape better (Figure 1.6). We glue these three parts together, forming a frame for the cover (Figure 1.7).
Then we proceed to the most creative stage - the creation of the "face" of our diary. I decided to make it denim, I had to say goodbye to two jeans of different colors. I also needed eyelets, thick threads, jeans pockets, various stripes from them, several brads, matching cords and even a real metal button.
The cover of my brainchild is not one-piece, I made it a composite of two colors (Figure 1.8). We make an imitation of a denim stitch on a sewing machine, decorate the cover and glue in the bookmark (Figure 1.9).
The matter is small, we just have to make the endpapers and glue the notebook together. I made the endpapers from designer scrapbooking paper. First, the endpapers need to be glued inside the fold of the slate, and only then the cover should be glued to the formed paper block.
So our present is ready. The rules that a handmade gift is the best gift has not been canceled. In such things, the energy of the creator and the warmth of human hands are preserved. It remains to hide it more securely so that the curious husband's nose does not find him ahead of time.

A large number of ready-made gliders can be found on sale today. They have a beautiful appearance, but their content often does not differ in variety. This state of affairs does not suit people with a creative mind. However, there is a way out - to make a diary with your own hands. As a result, you can get not only a beautiful, but also a meaningful planning notebook.
To make a homemade organizer, you have to show your imagination, as well as find the right materials. If you wish, you can find a lot of ideas for a diary on the Internet. You can make the following types of planing with your own hands:
From ordinary notebooks.
With a watch.
Combine ready-made weeklies.
From printer paper.
The first option will be an excellent choice for people who literally have every minute scheduled and cannot afford to waste time on the lengthy process of making an accessory. To solve this problem, it is enough to purchase the required number of notebooks and arrange their pages in accordance with your needs.
The diary with a clock was invented by lovers of improving simple things. It should be admitted that this accessory will not only allow you to remember all important dates, but also tell you the time at any moment. If there is no opportunity to make a diary with your own hands from a notebook, then you can purchase a ready-made notebook, and then decorate its cover.
Often there are not enough pages in finished products. The problem is solved very simply - blocks are taken out of cheap gliders and combined. The resulting diary turns into a cover , which you can then design according to your preferences. All these ideas will help you make your diary in an individual style.
Planning from a notebook
This is the most budgetary option, and it is worth starting a master class with it. If there is no time to create a glider at home, then you should make a diary from a notebook. This requires a minimum of tools and materials. The procedure for creating it is as follows:
The covers are removed from the notebook, and the spines with staples are cut at the same distance.
Holes are made in the sheets with a hole punch for subsequent sewing.
All pages are folded neatly together.
A ribbon is passed through the holes and after the sheets are fastened, its ends are tied.
Two rectangles are cut out of cardboard to the size of the diary, and then holes are made in them with a hole punch.
Cover halves are attached to the notebook using the same tape.
After that, all that remains is to design the cover and pages. Such a budget notebook is suitable for a student or schoolgirl. In it, you can not only mark important dates or write down homework, but also entrust him with personal thoughts.
Notebook with rings
This type of diary is primarily decorative and is perfect for creative people. In addition, it can be a good gift for a loved one. For work, you will need special rings and an eyelet installer. The last tool can be replaced with a regular awl. For the production of the cover you need cardboard with a thickness of 2 mm
The rest of the tools and materials can be found in any home:
First you need to cut two rectangles of the required size from cardboard. These details on each side can be pasted over with colored paper. Holes must be made in the cover to hold the pages. If possible, you should insert eyelets into them to increase the service life of the accessory.
For a do-it-yourself diary, you can print pages that have been pre-marked in accordance with personal preferences. After that, all that remains is to collect the notebook. The main advantage of this design is the ability to add new pages.
Since a homemade notebook should not only be beautiful, but also multifunctional, many home craftsmen make these accessories suitable for all situations in life. It is in the design of the glider, inside and outside, that you should show all your imagination.
Busy people often choose simple sheets as accessory pages. However, with the help of a computer, you can make a markup that matches your own wishes. The diary can be adapted for storing small items by equipping it with pockets of various sizes.
To make them, you can use thick film, old files, etc. If you attach rubber bands to the cover of the glider, you can store pencils and pens in it. Even more ideas can be found for the external design of the accessory.
While it will take hours to create a beautiful and versatile day planner, the investment will definitely pay off.
There are quite a few scrapbooking products in modern art stores. Therefore, it will not be difficult to understand how to make a diary with your own hands at home. A homemade diary can be an excellent gift or brighten up the work or study days of the master.
You can make yourself both simple notepads in a few pages of a small format, and full-fledged bound diaries. In any case, this is a rather laborious process that requires patience and attention. The master class will tell you about several ways to assemble a diary and suggest options for its design and decoration.
The easiest way is to make a notebook from notebooks. For this, clean, unused sheets from old notebooks are suitable, which can be easily connected together with a hole punch. Such a diary, as a rule, is kept on tapes.
It is recommended to cut notebook sheets with a special cutter, for example, for photographs. So they will be even and of the same format.
What you need:
thick decorative paper or cardboard;
ribbon or rope.
How to make a diary from a notebook with your own hands:
Trim the torn notebook sheets so that they are the same size;
Measure the format and volume of notebook sheets (width, length, stack height) and cut the cardboard cover according to measurements;
Punch holes in all sheets in the same places with a hole punch;
Pierce the cover on both sides;
Thread the ribbon through the holes and tie a bow.
The cover can be either the same size as the sheets, or slightly larger than their format. It is important to consider the length of the spine, as well as the place of fold of the pages when choosing a format. You can also make the notebook "open": cut two covers (front and back) to fit the sheets and connect the entire structure on one side with tape.
Notebook sheets can also be used for a weekly journal on rings, but notepads with pages made of special thick paper look more original.
To start tinkering you need to prepare the following materials and tools:
any sheets of paper (for watercolors, packaging, writing, etc.);
thick cardboard or blanks for covers;
rings for albums (2-4 pcs);
double sided tape;
What should be done:
Think over the design of covers and endpapers, distribute elements, cut off the required number of ribbons;
Sew all the necessary elements onto paper using a typewriter;
Glue double-sided tape to the cardboard on both sides and glue the prepared pages for the cover and endpaper;
Sew the workpiece along the perimeter with a wide stitch;
Glue the rest of the elements;
Prepare sheets of paper: use a stamp pad to go around the edges;
Punch holes in all sheets and covers and thread rings.
The notebook is ready!
How to decorate a finished notebook, your imagination will tell you. For decoration, you can use buttons, ribbons, old photographs, lace, scraps of fabric, rivets and much more.
To get a full-fledged diary-book, you have to delve a little into the process of weaving books. The work takes some time, but the result can be pleasantly surprised.
What you need to work:
thick sheets of A4 paper;
thread and needle.
To make the notebook lined up, you can pre-print sheets with linear markings. To do this, you can use the appropriate templates or do it manually in a text editor.
How to do:
Bend sheets of paper in half and put them into each other, forming "notebooks" (2-5 sheets in one "notebook");
Having made the required number of "notebooks", press them from the side of the spines using clerical clips, under which it is necessary to lay thick cardboard (so that no traces remain), leave for 3 hours;
After the sheets are compressed, remove the staples and trim the roots;
Cut three equal strips from the fabric tape and wrap the roots with them;
Make a marker on the spine along the sides of the strips - sewing points (you can also cut the spines for this);
Start sewing the spine and ribbons with dense threads: each notebook is sewn in turn (it is important to ensure that the "notebooks" and sheets do not disperse or slide out);
Strengthen the stitched spine: glue a piece of gauze and put it under the press until it sets completely (you can just glue it with a sealant);
Glue pieces of tape on the sides of the spine;
Cut out three parts from cardboard - 2 covers and a spine - slightly larger in size than the sheet format;
Cut out a rectangular piece of fabric and glue all the details on it;
Glue the fabric around the edges;
Glue the flyleaf and connect the pages to the cover.
Here's another option for creating and pinning a cover:
From a finished notebook, you can make an organizer - a multifunctional diary. It is easy to make it from a plastic folder with a ring clip.
For crafts, you will need the following materials and tools:
plastic folder with clips;
leather or leatherette;
a diary with metal rings;
paper for decorating endpapers.
In fact, you should get a multifunctional cover for the diary, to which you can attach pockets for business cards, pens, notes, etc. That is why it is recommended to buy a ready-made small format diary (A5).
How to do:
Mark the desired format on the folder with a marker and cut;
Cut a rectangle out of leather that is larger than the format of the prepared folder (to wrap the edges);
Slip the strap into the skin slots;
Glue the leather to the folder and glue the wrapped edges;
Prepare the endpaper: glue pockets, decor, etc on a sheet of paper;
Glue the endpapers and let dry;
Fasten the diary sheets.
Interesting ideas are recommended to be gleaned from the selection of videos.
You write all the tasks for the day in a list and take turns solving them - this approach has long ceased to be associated with planning. A planner is capable of much more than just organizing a routine. For example, instill good habits, lead to a big goal, teach you how to keep a budget and many other important things for a happy life. But for this you need to be able to draw it up correctly. How? There are a bunch of cool techniques that I will tell you about. Choose the most convenient one and start the path to your dreams!
Why a diary?
From the choice of notebooks, eyes run up. A beautiful cover is, of course, important, but first of all, pay attention to the content. What task do you need a notebook for? Do you want to come up with something that will be inside yourself or is it more convenient to choose a ready-made version? Is detailed planning important to you?
As a first glider, I recommend opting for a day planner. He will not only train you to keep detailed records that will help you track progress and results, but he will also allow you to try any filling technique you choose.
The most popular and understandable methodology for everyone, which is perfect for any task. I started my way in planning with it, so all our gliders are created using this technology. By the way, if you often see beautiful and bright spreads of diaries on Instagram, be sure that they were made exactly according to the Bullet Journal method.
What's the point?
It is based on daily to-do lists, habit trackers, water balance, day results and a bunch of everything else that you need to fully track your results and lifestyle. And all this in one spread. The Bullet Journal is like a personal diary, a to-do list and a classic notebook in one convenient format.
Such a system is characterized not only by thematic blocks, but also by a special design. Bullet Journal includes highlighting with markers, pens and stickers, and easy-to-use notation. For example, a circle is an important event, a cross or a check mark is a completed task, a point is something that has yet to be solved. It seems to many that such a diary page design takes a huge amount of time, but no. Completing one spread along with the finishing touches in the form of decoration takes only 15-20 minutes!
Distribution of cases by the Eisenhower matrix
Another interesting design method that helps to deal with unexpected tasks, especially when you have complete chaos every day. The matrix helps to clearly prioritize and correctly distribute tasks throughout the day.
What's the trick?
We divide all tasks that we have written down into important and not important, urgent and not urgent. There should be 4 categories in total:
important and urgent cases that cannot be delayed. This can be meetings, writing a report, paying off a loan on time. Serious complications can arise if you do not follow them.
important but not urgent affairs. These are tasks that do not require a quick solution, but if they are delayed, they will begin to bring problems. For example: planning your new projects, signing up for the gym, finding useful information.
things are not important, but urgent ... This includes everything that does not bring you closer to your goal, but is necessary in everyday life. For example, to wish a friend a happy birthday, to go to their parents for a pie, to clean the closet, to sort out papers.
not important and not urgent affairs. This is the most disgusting category of affairs - our pain. They are not important, they are not urgent, but you want to do them. This can include sticking to social networks, watching TV shows, playing games on the phone, meaningless telephone conversations or conversations.
When we distribute things correctly, there are fewer rush jobs. This is how to prevent a disease so as not to start it at the end and not get serious consequences in the future.
In a glider, I advise you to do it this way: just write down your entire to-do list, and then prioritize numbers or highlight tasks in color. The main thing is to do them strictly in order.
Ideas for a diary according to the system of Gleb Arkhangelsky
Perhaps you've heard of Arkhangelsky's Time Drive, which is considered the bible for all planners? She's really cool. And most importantly, it has a bunch of useful chips that can be used in the glider for decoration. The most famous and effective of them are rightfully - “ frog eating method ”And“ step by step execution of tasks ”.
What's the trick?
Both methods are based on focusing tasks. To begin with, you must make a to-do list for the day and highlight only one of the most difficult, nastiest, and most unwanted of all. This is what you must solve the very first - to eat this tasteless frog. For example, for a very long time, my biggest and nastiest frog was crumpled things. I looked at this pile of clothes and immediately fell into despondency. But one morning, I gathered my strength into a fist and started the day with an iron. Since then, I have been doing this with all matters. The effect of successfully swallowing a frog is like a magic pill. It seems that mountains are knee-deep for you!
Stepping is an advanced version. You just number each task in order, from unpleasant to enjoyable. Thus, you will complete the most hated at the end, and only interesting and dear things will remain for dessert.
And, yes, do not forget to paint the whole thing with markers and stickers. The design should be pleasant and visual, so that you want to come back to your notes over and over again.
Is it possible to come up with your own design?
If you have ideas for designing a diary, that's even cooler. But keep in mind that this will take much longer than you think. After all, you will need to draw each block, each table and designation yourself.
How to do it? First of all, choose a special notebook. It can be ruled, squared, or without any other ruling, but for the first time I would highly recommend choosing the Point to Point Notebook option. The dot gives the markup for flat records. When you make notes in such a notebook, you don't have to worry about even letters and clear drawings.
Next, you need to decide on the layout of the page: they should be divided so that there is room in them for dates, numbers, and the records themselves. It is also advisable to make the numbering of each sheet and the table of contents, so it will be easier for you to find records in the future. Everything else is a matter of taste and imagination.
Over the years, I have developed my own structure for the design of the week. It is so convenient and simple that I rarely cheat on it. Watch the video below.

⠀ Let's analyze the planning for the weekly ⠀ Over the years, I have got my own structure for the design of the week. It is so convenient and simple that I rarely cheat on it. In the video I told everything in detail, but I will write a short summary here 😌 ⠀ For planning the week I use: ⠀ 🔧 Capillary pens, black and multi-colored (I have stabilo and microns) 🔧 Marker for highlighting notes (I have stabilized again) 🔧 Eraser pen or a pencil, if I'm afraid to make a mistake ⠀ What tricks do I use? ⠀ ⭕️ I divide all tasks into important / not important and urgent / not urgent, and then highlight them in a certain color ⠀ ⭕️ First, I write out only priority tasks that are tied to time: tasks with deadlines, meetings, events ⠀ ⭕️ I add things to the to-do list or goals that do not have exact deadlines, but would like to be done as soon as possible ⠀ ⭕️ I define for myself the task of the day (the MOST IMPORTANT in each column) and, using the frog method, I try to “eat” it very first. ⠀ ⭕️ And the most pleasant part - I mark everything that I did and did not do with crosses / ticks / hearts and decorate the spread with stickers ❤️ ⠀ Friends, do you use the weekly? If so, why did you choose it? And does anyone use a weekly planner for work and study (I know that beauty masters and students put their schedules there!)? ⠀ # planning # diary # planner # methods_mypp

My life hacks and ideas for designing a diary
I want to share with you my own secrets of designing and maintaining a diary that will make you fall in love with planning even more:
I first write the main text with a pencil or a pen-eraser, so that you can make edits without tearing out the sheets and ugly strikethrough.
I highlight the main points with markers, colored pens and stickers. So, you can easily find something important among your notes and you will understand what it is worth focusing your attention on. I especially love themed stickers or drawings.
I use each block functionally, especially for notes. In them, you can write the results, make a shopping list, or simply write down a quote that characterizes your day.
I define for myself the task of the day (the MOST IMPORTANT in each column) and, using the frog method, I try to “eat” it very first.
In order not to lose the desired page, I advise you to use "useful bookmarks". For example, a strategic box with priority goals for the month / year.
And the most pleasant part - I mark everything I did and did not do with crosses / ticks / hearts and decorate the spread.

PLANNING?!?! ⠀⠀ Until a few years ago, I would have said that planning is boring, inconvenient and stupid. But it is stupid to have an opinion where you "did not swim". And then I decided to at least try. ⠀⠀ I bought myself a diary and started writing down my business affairs there. But working in a new position at #Atos was not easy for me, I often did not understand how to make it feel good, and so bald spots began to appear in my diary. And the bald spots strongly demotivated me and therefore I many times planned to start a new life from scratch from next Monday. ⠀⠀ Then I turned to Lena Timashova (madam.planolle) for help, and she helped me a lot, showing a bunch of useful tricks that save time. I confess that sometimes the fuse disappeared and again laziness ate me up, which caused the accumulation of important matters. The lump of tasks drove me into a slight panic, which prevented me from doing my business. But I didn’t give up! ⠀⠀ As a result, for almost a year now, together with the diaries from my_pplanner, I plan my every day, follow the implementation of good habits, write down gratitude for each day that has passed and much more. And you know, I put things in order not only in my affairs, but also in my head. It became much easier for me to set goals, decompose them, and then fulfill them. ⠀⠀ And what a happiness to put ✅ in the task list! The feeling that I am a great fellow motivates me to perform more tasks! I am growing above myself! I am developing, and not living my life in a heap of household chores and problems. And I can say that I am definitely HAPPY! ⠀⠀ Are you planning? ⠀⠀ # design_mypplanner ⠀ # planning # motivation I participate in the competition from my_pplanner "How do I design my glider" ...
Here I decided to win three thousand rubles, so I will show you a spread from my diary and tell you about how my English teacher speaks every lesson, that I need to be a writer. Because I always manage to make him laugh. ⠀ Then he stops, says that, of course, I can be whoever I want, he just thinks that I would have done great. And he clarifies whether I was offended (oh, this American tolerance). ⠀ So that you understand, when I need to write some text in my homework, and I'm not in the subject (that is, every time), I make up some nonsense and we laugh like crazy when we check. ⠀ A perfect day in life? A text about how someone would invent a teleport and I would wake up in California; Dwayne Scala Johnson would invite me to coaching; I would refuse a date with Leonardo DiCaprio (because I believe that only Kate Winslet is his ideal soul mate); during the day I would eat huge shrimps and hide from the paparazzi; and in the evening I would send my personal driver for wine, and who knows, maybe he could run over a couple of my deadly enemies. That would be a holiday. ⠀ Science fiction? Here I only know that Elon Musk launched his Tesla into space and there were a lot of funny jokes about this (my favorite is that this is an ideal way to hide a corpse and I even managed to inject a phrasal verb here get away with murder (which in translation means avoiding the punishment for murder) .And a little reflection on "Black Mirror" and the future, which is closer and scarier than we think. ⠀ Therefore, Genesis, if you are already reading this and are going to take over the Earth, you should know that I am useless in conspiracy theory and have nothing against artificial intelligence (I must boast that here I also screwed in the phrasal verb looking forward, which means "looking forward"). ⠀ Well, since I am writing this post at the same time I participate in the contest "How do I design my glider" from my_pplanner, Dwayne and I are waiting for your likes. ⠀ Otherwise, by the time the teleport is invented ... it would be better for you not to cross the road when meeting with my personal driver. you know what I mean 🚗⠀ # design_mypplanner ...

ABOUT HOW A FANTASTIC PENETRIES INTO Fiction (a synopsis of the podcast "Book Bazaar") Two years ago, science fiction separately, fiction separately. Ис Writers who wrote serious works, if they wanted to write science fiction, they had to write under a pseudonym. Now publishers have ceased to see the difference between "serious literature" and fiction. But one must be able to combine fiction with elements of fiction. Sometimes fantastic elements are raised as complexity. It can be difficult to understand: whether this is the author's weakness (he did not figure out how to steer the plot and slipped the piano in the bushes), or it was intended. The amount of information and the degree of its accessibility today is so great that it is simply impossible to remember everything that we learn every day. And if we add to this the busyness of a modern person and the huge number of things that he has to do, then we get that at the right time, "getting" some information from the corners of memory becomes problematic. That is why many people use diaries in their studies, work, business and everyday life. But in order for this to give a result and really simplify life, you need to be able to correctly design them. Next, we'll talk about how this is done.
General information about diaries
It's worth starting with what direction your diary can have in general. Depending on it, the design of the diary may differ both inside and outside. This is due to the fact that using this tool should be as convenient and comfortable as possible. Moreover, one should like keeping a diary, one should enjoy this process, such an activity should become something of a hobby.
Now you can find a variety of design ideas for diaries from many manufacturers. Therefore, you can choose for yourself exactly what will meet your needs and wishes. We will not consider all types of diaries, but we will list only the most common:
Regular diary ... As such, a simple notebook can act, in which there is space for scheduling tasks for the day. Most people use this type of diary. it is convenient to keep records, make notes, mark dates and times of meetings, record birthdays, phone numbers, addresses and other data. Keeping an ordinary daily planner takes place according to a system that a person comes up with for himself.
Personal diary ... It can be called a diary because It is intended mainly to relieve emotional stress, "splashing out" disturbing thoughts on paper. Such diaries are advised by psychotherapists and psychologists, especially to those who are prone to excessive emotionality, anxiety, worries, negative thinking. And the effect really is - after such "practice" people relax, normalize their mental state. Personal diaries are kept, as a rule, in free form.
Business diary ... Designed for businessmen, business people, workers with a busy schedule. A business diary allows you to structure your affairs, not forget anything, and have all important information in sight. It should be clearly structured and divided into time intervals: hour, day, week, month, year. The results of work and the successes achieved by a person largely depend on the organization of the diary.
Electronic diary ... This includes special computer applications and programs, but recently, utilities for smartphones and tablets are becoming more common. Electronic diaries are incredibly convenient, equipped with a lot of useful functions, the ability to customize sound notifications, etc. For people leading an active lifestyle and appreciating mobile devices, they are simply irreplaceable.
In general, today on sale you can find an incredible number of diaries, including highly specialized ones - designed for specific purposes of "users". We will not dwell on them in detail - just go shopping and see what is on the shelves.
We want to continue by considering several design ideas for diaries that may be useful to you. But first, let's digress with a funny video about the benefits of these tools.
Three good design ideas for your diary pages
You can use the ideas below when working with any kind of diaries. As a matter of fact, they can be used by taking only paper and a pen into work, but we still recommend using diaries, because, firstly, you do not have to constantly fiddle with a bunch of different pieces of paper, and secondly, having mastered the system , you will turn your daily planner into an effective assistant in doing business and achieving goals.
Dwight D. Eisenhower Diary
You are probably already familiar with the Eisenhower Matrix, a unique planning tool adopted by many people interested in time management techniques. Recall that Eisenhower was the 34th president of the United States, and the issue of competent distribution of tasks was one of the most urgent for him.
The meaning of the method is reduced to the correct prioritization of their affairs. For an unorganized person, a lot of time is spent on insignificant matters, while important and significant tasks remain unresolved. His personal effectiveness is low. But you can raise it using a matrix.
According to her, urgent tasks are almost never only important, and important ones are only urgent. In total, there are four categories of cases:
Important and urgent matters (they need to be done right now);
Important, but not urgent matters (they need to allocate most of the time);
Unimportant and urgent matters (it is best to delegate them);
Not important and not urgent matters (it is recommended to refuse them altogether).
The greatest difficulty for people who first use the Eisenhower matrix is the process of correctly classifying cases and their objective distribution into four categories - the quadrants of the matrix. It looks like this:
Some people use special techniques to prioritize, but most do it intuitively. The sheets of the notebook are laid out as shown in the figure, and every day, tasks and tasks are distributed to areas. Cases of the lower category (B, C, and D) cannot be moved until all the cases of the highest category (A, B, and C, respectively) have been completed.
The Eisenhower matrix, by the way, became a prerequisite for the emergence of many other planning methods, for example, the Stephen Covey method. You can also use it to maintain your personal Bullet Journal. We will talk about all this below.
Stephen Covey Diary
Stephen Covey was one of the most successful and respected motivational speakers, writers and time management specialists of our time. Most of his books became bestsellers and are still sold in huge editions around the world. Covey himself was included in the list of the 25 most influential people in America according to Forbes magazine.
Many corporations use the skills of this person in their activities, teaching their employees the basics of time management and increasing personal efficiency. One of the tools here is a daily planner that follows the principles outlined in Covey's The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.
Even an ordinary day planner turns into a professional planner (advanced organizer version) with many useful functions. It is useful for businessmen and people who want to always keep all their affairs and tasks in order and under control; people who understand the value of a temporary resource.
The Covey diary consists of two parts: the main part and the tab. The main part is the lined pages for making daily plans. Tasks and cases are entered here, either requiring prompt completion, or those that need to be done at exactly the appointed time. The second tab is for weekly and monthly entries that reflect the main goals, as well as the values of the person (there is a separate place for it).
The page layout looks like this (you can take this example as a template):
It is thanks to a clear delineation and prioritization of tasks, affairs and goals (what to do now, what is tomorrow, what is next month, etc.), the Stephen Covey diary helps a person to be effective. With it, you can do not only daily and weekly planning, but also make global plans leading to success and achievement of goals.
Diary on the system of Gleb Arkhangelsky
The presented daily planner is the author's development of the Russian specialist in the field of time management Gleb Arkhangelsky. The technique is considered today one of the most effective (read more about it in our article "Time management of Gleb Arkhangelsky").
The diary is clearly structured, so that tasks are divided into primary and secondary ones. But this is not the only feature - another feature is that it is very interesting to work with this tool. To do this, on the pages the author describes various everyday tasks in a humorous, but, of course, accurate and capacious form.
Also on each page there is a place for the event of the day (you, of course, define it yourself). It turns out that along with the banal conduct of business, you also keep something like a personal diary, which you can refer to to refresh your plans and events in your memory, and at the same time get a charge of emotions.
In addition to this, the diary has a separate column "Intermediate joys" marked with the "Gift" icon, where it is convenient to enter time for entertainment: meeting with friends, going to the movies, shopping and other pleasures of everyday life. And so that the user is not distracted, this column is located at the bottom of the page.
Arkhangelsky's diary is constantly being revised and several versions of it can be found. For acquaintance, here is one example of page design:
As you can see, there are Frog and Elephant columns at the top of the page. These creatures have already become classics of time management: by frogs we mean small, but not very interesting and pleasant things that need a quick solution (these frogs need to be "eaten"). And elephants are complex and ambitious tasks. To “eat” an elephant, you need to “cut” it into small pieces; to divide one big business into several small ones.
As for the column "Hard meetings", then it is possible to enter into it not only specific meetings, but also important matters tied to time. And the column "Flexible Tasks" refers to anything that can be done in a time free from tough meetings and tasks.
At the end of the day, you need to review everything that you managed to do, choose the most important and pleasant and write down opposite the column "Sun". After a month, it is very convenient to view your notes in order to clearly see how much work has been done. The same graph perfectly demonstrates how correctly priorities are set, and which things turn out to be the most significant.
And one more thing: at the very bottom of each of the pages are tips for business and time management. There are 365 of them in total, i.e. these are recommendations for every day that can be used in work and business (and even study), and this makes this diary even more effective and interesting tool.
In addition to all of the above, we want to note that you do not have to run to the store and buy one of the diaries discussed above. You may well just take on board the proposed page design ideas for any other diary, even made with your own hands. Simply put, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good planning and time management tool. If you are ready to apply a little ingenuity and imagination, as well as devote some free time to an interesting activity, we suggest that you make a diary with your own hands. Believe me, there is nothing difficult in this. The same activity is perfect for spending time with children.
Do-it-yourself creation and design of a diary (including the Bullet Journal) is not a problem. You just need to be smart about creating its outer and inner parts, having prepared stationery in advance: colored pencils or markers, cardboard and Whatman paper, white and multi-colored paper, glue, double-sided tape, etc. Read on to find out what else may come in handy.
Outside of the diary
The outer part of the diary is his face, so you need to approach the creation competently and correctly. In the process, you can use ready-made templates in landscape or notebook format (you can buy them in stationery stores, download on the Internet or order from a printing house) or a base made yourself.
When designing the outer part of the diary, it is useful to work with various decorative materials. For example, if you take colored cardboard, you can make beautiful cutouts from it and make an applique from them, which will serve as a decoration for your product. And girls can be advised to play with decorative beads - it is ideal for laying out patterns and images (according to a sketch, of course). Although, a men's diary can be decorated with the same material, if you put a geometric pattern or a pattern in an ethnic style on it.
By the way, vintage style diaries look great. If you combine black, gray and brown in style, you can achieve an impressive look. But do not limit yourself to beads - use leatherette, leatherette or some other artificial material (no one forbids working with natural leather, it will just be an order of magnitude more expensive).
An equally important part of the visual design of the outer part is the fastener. Today there are a huge number of variations of those: zippers, rivets, straps, buttons, buttons and others. There are no restrictions here, and it all depends on your imagination, wishes for the diary and compliance with the chosen style.
Decide on the type of diary, its purpose (work, meetings, affairs, personal notes, etc.) and format. This should be the starting point, and this rule applies to the design of not only the outer, but also the inner part of your organizer, planner or diary.
Inside of the diary
Everything is no less interesting with the inside of the diary than with the outside. She can be called a leader, because she directly affects the comfort and convenience of working with this tool, as well as pleasure and, of course, personal efficiency. Attention should be paid to two important components - pages and their layout.
Of particular importance is the quality of the pages, as well as their color design. It is better not to use overly saturated and bright colors, because working with them is not very convenient - they complicate the perception of the text (and generally unnecessarily load the visual apparatus). Therefore, the pages should be unobtrusive, soft and moderate colors. Try pastel shades - they never get tired of the eyes (and they have an anti-stress effect).
Now a few words about "filling". One of the basic principles of designing a diary is page numbering. If they are numbered, you will be much faster and easier to search for information. The next important point is the markup. If you have not just a diary, but a planner or organizer, then it is imperative that its pages be divided so that there is space for dates, times and entries.
As for the rest, the design of pages inside the diary is as it is convenient for you. Imagine: on the pages you can place background pictures, photos of relatives, images of your goals, mandalas, quotes from great people, or something else. Do not forget that the design of the pages can also take place according to the templates of the diaries, which we talked about above.
The recordings themselves can be made in some interesting form, including encrypted ones. Of course, it is not advisable to use a cipher for the conduct of ordinary daily affairs, but if some important information needs to be classified, then this is quite reasonable. The code should be understandable only to you, and the key to it (it should also be understandable only to you) can be written on the last page of the diary. This way you can be sure that no one will know what they should not know, and at the same time you will not need to hide the carrier itself.
We think that we have conveyed the main idea of the article, and now it will be easier for you to design a diary. Still, it will not be superfluous to say a few more words about the Bullet Journal, which we mentioned above. We also highly recommend you to master this tool for effective organization of time and affairs.
Bullet Journal Diary
The Bullet Journal was invented by renowned web designer Ryder Carroll. For several years he was looking for a way to organize his time as efficiently as possible, and as a result he created this unique tool.
The main feature of the Bullet Journal is that it matches its owner as much as possible. Simply put, this is not a ready-made template that you need to adjust to, but a system that you adjust for yourself: you design, think over and apply.
Bullet Journal can be called a mixture of a diary and a glider. It is suitable for recording interesting thoughts and ideas, tasks, goals and plans (including long-term ones), as well as for quickly finding the necessary information using special symbols. Tasks and tasks can be easily rescheduled to other times and dates without losing sight of anything.
Carroll's diary is a great alternative to phone and notebook, and even apps like Trello or Evernote, for those who like to prioritize and clearly plan their business and daily life.
Anyone can create such a tool. First you need to buy a good notebook (or notebook). It should not be too small or large (A5 format will do), too heavy or light. The main thing is to work with it and carry it with you conveniently and comfortably.
It is very important that the pages of the notebook are numbered. If not, please number them yourself. On the first page (you can leave several pages) there should be a table of contents that you will fill out in the process of maintaining - fix the sections of your diary and the pages they occupy.
The next few pages should be set aside for the annual spread. You can fit three months on one page by dividing it into three equal parts. Big plans and goals, significant events and dates are recorded here. The annual spread helps with the overall assessment of plans.
Next comes a new reversal - one month. Carroll himself recommends placing the day of the month in a column on the left side of the reversal, prescribing the days of the week next to it. Opposite each number, it is convenient to record events whose dates will not change for sure (trips, business trips, etc.) On the right side of the spread, you need to write down all major tasks and questions that are not tied to dates, but which must be done in a particular month.
And finally, the turn of the daily notes comes. For them, all the following pages are assigned (after each month, a spread for a new month is created). Tasks should be scheduled point by point, and the points in the list themselves should be marked with special icons, for example:
point - daily affairs and minor worries;
circle - events, meetings and events;
dash - thoughts, ideas and notes;
an asterisk - especially important matters;
exclamation mark - especially urgent matters.
When one thing is done, a cross is placed instead of a symbol. At the end of each day and week, you need to look at the tasks that remain unresolved and determine whether they are still relevant. If not, feel free to cross them out, and if yes, mark them with an arrow or a ">", ie. reschedule (next day, week or month).
You can also use other symbols. For example, use the “$” icon to mark everything related to finance ($ + - income, and $ - - expense), etc. It is only important that there are not too many icons, so as not to get confused. And for convenience, on a separate sheet of notepad, you can write down all the icons and their decoding.
As you can see, making and maintaining the Bullet Journal is quite simple. In principle, this is a worthy replacement for any other planner, and we advise you to try working with this wonderful tool if you wish. We are sure you will like it! And to make this system even more understandable to you, we suggest watching a short video on this topic.
We wish you success and timely completion of all matters!
Are you not satisfied with regular diaries, even if they are undated? Is it difficult for you to maintain an organizer, because you constantly forget or confuse something? Try taking daily notes like the American web designer method Ryder Carroll .
Until now, a pen and a notebook remain the simplest and most accessible tools for doing business. Therefore, Carroll, who from school did not get along with the usual notes and tried to put everything in order, developed a method of keeping a diary called Bullet Journal ... He even launched a project on Kickstarter and in a day raised funds for the production of notebooks created using the Bullet Journal system and a website explaining the methodology. And then the German manufacturer Leuchtturm1917 joined the project and the logo of this brand appeared on the back of the Bullet Journal's official notebook.
Any classic notebook and pen are suitable for experimenting with this technique. Carroll himself prefers point-to-point notebooks (by the way, you can buy similar ones from us).
Ryder recommends using the fast writing language. It includes four components: topics, pagination, short sentences and labeling.
1. Themes and pagination. They should be indicated in the upper left corner of each page before writing anything else. For ease of use, it is necessary to number all the pages of the notebook.
2. All tasks should be described in very short sentences, like “do the dishes,” “buy a dress for a party,” or “feed the elephant.” It is recommended to add a decryption using a special marking.
3. Different types of tasks (tasks, activities and short notes) are marked with different icons. Tasks are indicated by a “•” dot with various additional icons.
Xmeans that the task is completed >- task postponed <- task is scheduled
Events are marked with “o”, notes - “-“.
Additional icons are used to add context. Star means importance, exclamation mark - insights and brilliant ideas, and eye - the need to search for additional information.
4. Bullet Journal is structured in four modules. It is an index, a journal of the future, a monthly journal, and a daily journal.
Index will take the first couple of pages of the notebook. All topics and tasks that are important to you are recorded here, indicating the pages on which more detailed information is posted.
Magazine of the future contains your plans for the future with the indication of the month. The monthly helps organize the entire month. Select a spread. On the page on the left, you need to write the name of the month and all days from 1 to 31 in a column, and indicate the planned date opposite the dates. The page on the right will serve as a repository for a list of tasks for the month or tasks that you did not complete in the previous month.
Daily journal intended for standard filling every day. Dates should not be written in advance, but as needed, and as much space should be allocated for each day as needed.
One of the features of Bullet Journal is the ability to move unfinished cases, changing the labeling and adding outstanding tasks from the previous one to the current month.
Ryder Carroll recommends testing the system for at least two months to assess its benefits.

This watch attached to the inside of the bottom of the cover. The most convenient way is to use glue.
Left to do slits on all pages, which will match the circumference of the dial. Thus, no matter which page is turned, the clock will always be visible.
IMPORTANT: This part of the making is the most difficult. To make it go perfectly, it is better to use a clerical knife.
Active individuals can do a thick diary of several notebooks. For this you will need:
Actually, a few notebooks
Satin ribbon, preferably thinner
Good density white cardboard
Hole punch, scissors
Pencil and markers
Various decorative elements such as stickers, colored tape
The diary is made as follows:
Notebooks get rid of the covers. This is easiest to do with not too thick paperback notebooks.

To start ordinary and cardboard sheets are equal. Cardboard ones can be somewhat larger, since they will make a cover.
Further in cardboard are being done symmetrical holes.
The cardboard is covered acrylic paint. After that, it becomes quite dense, therefore it is recommended to equalize it before coating.

After the specified time staples can be removed.
Further from the fabric tape you need cut a few stripes ... They and the roots turn around.

A small video about creating a diary with your own hands:
After reading a lot of very useful publications about the benefits of keeping diaries, I, of course, sat down and made myself a beautiful one, on rings, 15 x 21 cm :) Here he lies near the computer, winking. So we look at each other.
I decided that this was not the case, and I needed to make such a diary that I would really use. And here are the requirements I got: 1. Size, it should be small to fit in a small bag (which has no room without it) 2. Practicality, it should be made of such materials so as not to be afraid of water (there is always a bottle of water in the bag), and also not to have any bulging decorations so as not to cling and tear them off in the bag. 3. Functionality, it should be easy to use. 4. Appearance, it should be cute, but not to the detriment of hamster supplies, that is, use to the maximum the usual materials available at home.
And I decided: "To be a little helper!"
So my eyes fell on the roll of the remnants of the self-adhesive film :) But the size itself depended on the insert-notepad and pen. So, our task is to find the smallest glue-based notebook in the stationery store (this is specifically my quirk so that the leaves come off conveniently and there are no creepy rags left from the spring version). The base-notebook was found 6.5 x 10 cm in size. I was also lucky with a pen, I found a crumb 10.5 cm long, for as much as 30 rubles :) Half the battle is done, now let's get started!
Materials you need: 1. Binder / beer cardboard (I have a cover from a thick children's book) 2. Self-adhesive film. 3. Scrap paper, pastel paper (leftovers or small pieces). 4. Transparent film (this can be a notebook cover, a thick file, a transparent document folder, I have some leftover Lomond transfer film) 5. Some nice decorative pictures / lettering to decorate the cover. 6. Brads. 7. The elastic band is flat, the ribbon is rep or satin. 8. Adhesive notebook 9. Smallest fountain pen or pencil 10. Masking tape 11. Adhesive paper stickers (optional).
The tools we will use: 1. Scissors. 2. Ruler. 3. Stationery knife 4. Spoke. 5. Shiloh. 6. Sewing machine. 7. Glue Moment. 8. Pencil.
Let's get started!
1. Let's estimate the size of the inner part of the diary on paper, for this we put a notebook and a pen next to it, circle everything together with a small allowance.
2. Determine the internal dimensions, these will be patterns for scrap paper and pastel paper, 8 x 11 cm.
3. Draw the external dimensions, add 3 mm to the height and width, do not change the spine.
4. Immediately decide on the film for the pockets.
5. Cut out cardboard, paper and film with a knife (there is no paper for pastels, it also needs to be cut out like scrap paper).
6. Cut out the self-adhesive foil approximately 2 cm larger on all sides of the cover. The film strives to spin :)
7. Therefore, remove the protective layer, turn it over and stretch it on the glossy cardboard using masking tape.
8. We coat the cardboard for the cover with glue and carefully glue it to the film, leaving a gap between the spine of about 4-5 mm.
9. Bend the wide sides of the film, smooth all the concavities with a fingernail or knitting needle.
10. We make corners by gluing them well with glue.
11. We coat with glue and glue the sides, press down carefully and wait for the glue to dry completely.
12. From the tape of the film we make out the middle inside, glue the entire area of the tape with glue.
13. Until the glue has seized, smooth the folds with a knitting needle, wait for it to dry completely, then fold the cover and check if everything is in order.
14. Preparing for sewing :) Preparing "sandwiches": thick pastel paper, scrap paper (I have thin paper), transparent film and an eraser for a pen / pencil.
15. To decorate the cover, we prepare pictures on a substrate (I tinted the edges and made flower stamps). We cut out a transparent film for them in size, for a circle I cut out a square, we glue the pictures with a cardboard backing.
16. Sewing our "sandwiches".
17. We bring all the threads to the wrong side, tie with double knots, glue with masking tape.
18. Glue pictures on the cover and attach them with brads.
19. Preparing an elastic band. We scorch the edges of the elastic band with a lighter or a match, as well as two pieces of tape. The size of the tape should be such as to "hug" the elastic.
20. Carefully glue the elastic to the center of the tape, stepping back 2 mm from the edge, glue the edges of the tape from the inside out, act slowly and carefully to make it look beautiful.
21. We glue the area of the tape from the inside out and put everything on the brads. From the inside out, we straighten the antennae of the brads so that they do not interfere.
22. We glue the inner blanks, insert the notebook into the pocket behind the back of the cover (before that I carefully cut the front cover of the notebook to the very root).
23. Preparing inserts for cases: cut out several rectangles from cardboard scraps, round the corners, put a stamp for the day. The number of such rectangles is unlimited, it is convenient for me to make them as the remaining cardboard arrives, 7 pieces at a time.
24. This is what it looks like in action. On the left are important things that are clearly visible under the film, sticky stickers on which you can write something sudden :) On the right is a list of products, at the end of the day I write down all the expenses for the day and the total.
Here's a masipulka turned out. Lightweight, small, pleasant to hold and work with. It even fits into a cosmetic bag :) The final size turned out to be 8.5 x 11.3 x 1.3 cm. Self-adhesive film and transparent film provide protection from dust, dirt, water and so on (a lot can happen while walking with your child). The diary will not pull my shoulder, it weighs 60 grams :) In the store, I do not hold in my hands a piece of paper with a list, but a beautiful "little book" :) bright stickers so you don't forget anything!
And in my big diary I will write and sketch sketches and ideas for jewelry and notebooks :)
